I was born in Amsterdam, the capital of one of the flattest countries in the World (but it does have climbing walls ;)). I decided to 'exchange' track and field (athletics) for climbing about 9 years ago, and have been climbing ever since.

About 3 years ago I started to enjoy bouldering more than routes, as a result of which I hardly do any routes at the moment. In May '08 me and my dog Fonzie moved over to the UK to live with my boyfriend, Andy Earl. Our house in Newcastle is about half an hours drive from the first blocs. I love climbing in Northumberland (the climbing area near Newcastle) as much as I love bouldering in other parts of Europe like the Peak, Yorkshire, Ticino, Avers, Val di Mello, Targasonne, Font, Pfalz etc. I could not really tell which is my 'favourite' climbing area or my 'favourite' boulder problem. However, I do prefer roofs and slightly overhanging blocs with grimpy edges and heal hooks and a good landing. And since I moved over to the UK I start to like highballs a little more. I even opened my own highball in Northumberland named 'Dutch Courage'.

As soon as Andy's new bouldering wall 'Climb Newcastle' is up and running we will probably go abroad more often. As there are so many boulder areas I still want to visit. Sponsored by Scarpa, who made vegan friendly shoes especially for me ;)
